I also picked up Thud! at the local IP depository. I now have a strong preference for Vimes novels set in Discworld, I even read this one twice. I like seeing him in his parternal mode.
The kids are picky eaters, they have been since they were old enough to voice objections (around 18 months). Because we try to avoid power struggles with food, I often end up acting like a short order cook, I make something for Mrs. Ha and me, then something for eleven year old (oatmeal, craft macaroni and cheese or English Muffins usually), and something else for six year old (usually real or faux chicken nuggets). It's a pain.
That's why I was glad to see the girls eat pizza on Friday, they're slowly expanding their food horizons. A meal where we all ate the same thing, amazing! Who knows, if the progress continues, I may need to only cook one meal at dinner (and maybe only 4 times a week, too, but that's another rant).
I have no sneakers (trainers) that properly fit my swollen feet, even my EEEE New Balance cross trainers are a little too narrow in the toe box, I can wear them for half an hour, but then my feet start to hurt. This weekend we went to DSW, a ginormous shoe store. I looked at every kind of sneaker, and could find no super extra wide ones that fit without pain. I did find that one size 11 (I'm a 10 1/2 in length) Doc Marten bowling shoe looking shoe fit, but it was too long. I miss shoes that fit. I do have some ideas. Until then, I have my Deer Stags and my sandals and my StoneRidge (a wide 44 somehow).
There is an intriguing biz trip that I would like to be assigned too. I normally feel business trips are a waste of time and money, but it's been over a year since I've last gone out and I could do with a few days change. Positive vibes appreciated.
It's Girl Scout cookie time, and I don't think eleven year old will beat her last year's mark. Her regular customers are hard to get a hold of, they must be working late or something.
In other eleven year old news, she's anxious about next year, we have no idea where she will end up. I hope we get the one choice, I do not want to spend $5-7k a year in tuition, I'm not even sure how affordable that is. I better get rid of that stuff on ebay that cluttering up my study.
Big metro news, a local telecom company is planning on buying Midtown Mall ( dilapidated mall downtown with about 10 stores left), tearing it down and building a 35 story headquarters. Great news if this comes to fruition, we shall see what happens.
